The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport has been launched in the Indian market as the new entry-level model of the Tiger family. The new Tiger 850 Sport retails at a relatively competitive price tag and aims to attract new buyers towards the brand.

The design of the new Tiger 850 Sport is similar to the Tiger 900 GT, and thus it comes equipped with a sleek headlight, tall windscreen, semi-fairing design, split-style seats, and a tall-set exhaust. The motorcycle is built around a tubular steel frame with a bolted sub-frame. Similar to the GT range, the new Tiger 850 Sport rides on cast alloy wheels. Mechanical specifications are similar to the Tiger 900 series, although the new Tiger 850 Sport makes relatively lower power and torque output. The 888cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the Tiger 850 Sport is tuned to produce 84bhp and 82Nm as against 93.9bhp and 86.7Nm on the Tiger 900 series.

The electronic rider aids include ABS, switchable traction control system, and two riding modes- road and rain. Other premium features include full-LED lighting, a colour TFT-display, and a USB charging port.

The hardware comprises of 45mm Marzocchi upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable Marzocchi rear monoshock to perform the suspension tasks. The braking setup includes twin 320mm rotors with Brembo Stylema four-piston monobloc callipers at the front and a single 255mm disc with Brembo single-piston sliding calliper at the rear.

The new Tiger 850 Sport competes against the Ducati Multistrada 950, the BMW F 900 XR, and the likes.
